Catty Lands

Katrina the navigator. Maia the seeker. Kali the wanderer.

These three girls – the new captain of her family’s ship, a girl searching for her missing parents, and a rather spoiled girl suddenly finding herself on the run – are thrown together by fate, and find themselves on a journey to save their fantastical world.

Catty Lands is an upcoming adventure game where players control Katrina, Maia and Kali and navigate mysterious and magical locations in a world inspired by Wonderland. Their adventures tell a story of stopping the tyrannical Cat Queen of Spades and her cruel captain of the guard.

Main Characters (Playable)

Katrina, once the heir to her family’s ship, the Kattensong, is now captain, having reached her fifteenth birthday. As is the custom in her family, she begins a solo voyage around the world as her first one. It is on this voyage that she picks up Maia and Kali, two girls her age, and finds her maiden voyage turn into a journey to save her whole world.

Maia grew up in the fishing port town of Arrasiann. When her parents were taken away for opposing the Cat Queen of Spades, the then very young Maia was adopted by their friend Syri. Now fifteen, Maia would like nothing more than to find her missing parents. When Katrina docks at Arrasiann, Maia begs to join her for this purpose. But when Kali joins the pair, Maia immediately dislikes her due to her spoiled nature. On her quest to find her parents and save the world, Maia will learn and grow and become closer to Kali…

Kali is the daughter of an upper-class family in the port town of Calicia. She has everything she could ever want and is spoiled by her parents, but when they are confronted by Miir, Kitria helps Kali escape and tells her she must leave Calicia immediately – and Katrina’s ship just happens to be docked there. Stowing away, Kali encounters Maia, who is averse to Kali’s haughty manner. But there is more to Kali then that, as she begins to prove her worth by standing up to Miir in defense of the innocent, and Maia in particular notices Kali’s gradual change of heart…

Aretia is the leader of a resistance fighting the Cat Queen and her army. She and her friends Lumina, Katya, Mihoshi and Sadie have fled their homes and are now in hiding. Katrina, Maia and Kali encounter her when she rescues them from a pursuing Miir, and soon must assist her in rescuing a kidnapped apprentice witch. But just why is Aretia so protective of Katrina, Maia and Kali…?

The Cat Queen of Spades – called so because no one knows her true name – is the tyrannical and greedy ruler of the Catty Lands. Being installed as queen by the rebel group known as the Army of Spades after they dethroned the previous queen, Almira, the Cat Queen is entitled and vain, yet has never left Cattilian, the capital, since becoming queen. She relies on Miir to carry out most of her orders.

Miir, or Captain Miir by title, is the current captain of the guard and leader of the Cat Queen’s army. She has enormous magical power, and while the Cat Queen inspires fear in many citizens of the Catty Lands, they are often more afraid of Miir, who actually carries out the Cat Queen’s bidding and is ruthless in doing so. Even the rest of the army is afraid of her, since she will spare no one who defies her.

Kitria is a soldier in the Cat Queen’s army, though not by choice. She had joined to serve the previous queen, Almira, whom she admired, but when the Cat Queen took over, all soldiers had to follow her instead and could not leave. However, Kitria has a strong sense of right and wrong and does whatever she can to undermine Miir’s nefarious deeds and the Cat Queen’s selfish demands. So far, no one seems to know she is a traitor to the Cat Queen’s regime, but how long will she be able to deceive them?
